Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manuel Neuer to replace Edwin Van der Sar

Sir Alex Ferguson gave credit to the Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after Manchester United beat Schalke, 2-0 at the Arena AufSchalke in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday (26/04/2011).

Ferguson said Manuel Neuer was the star in the game. "Manuel Neuer is unbelievable. That was the best performance I've ever seen from a goalkeeper in a match against us,"said Ferguson. Understand it, as long as 45 minutes the first half, Neuer exhibit extraordinary action.

At least five chance of Man Utd in the first half through Park Ji-Sung, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs (twice) and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, could be thwarted by Neuer. At the end of the game, Ferguson was caught on camera congratulate Manuel Neuer.

Ferguson praise for Neuer a signal that Man Utd, will bring goalkeeper Schalke soccer academy graduates who is also Germany national team goalkeeper. Informed, next season Man Utd will lose Edwin Van der Sar, who retired at the end of this season.

Immediately after the 2-0 defeat, Neuer revealed that Manchester United was never a possible destination for his post-Schalke life, a comment that further pushed him towards Bayern Munich. The citizens of Gelsenkirchen will be up in arms if he does indeed move to their bitter rivals, but following Tuesday's match, they can place no blame on the goalkeeper. Their dream has ended, Neuer's has just begun.
