Spanish King’s Cup trophy broken, dropped by Sergio Ramos

The unfortunate event happened to Sergio Ramos while on celebrating the success of Real Madrid win the Copa del Rey.

After successfully winning the Copa del Rey by beating Barcelona 1-0 in the Mestalla on Wednesday (20/04/2011), Mourinho's men back to Madrid and continue the celebration party in downtown . By using a double-decker bus, the players show off the trophy to front of about tens of thousands more fans who packed the streets of Madrid.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos dropped the Spanish King’s Cup trophy from the top of the team bus during celebrations early Thursday morning and the bus then ran over the trophy.

Just before the team’s arrival at the club’s traditional celebration spot at the Plaza de Cibeles in central Madrid, Ramos held the trophy, which weighs 15 kilos (33 pounds), above his head, and lost his grip, causing it to fall in front of the bus. The bus then ran over it before stopping.

Police rushed to retrieve the silver trophy and gave it to the driver of the bus.

According to Europa Press agency, Ramos said, “The cup fell, it fell. But the cup is OK.”

News radio Cadena Ser reported, the trophy was not displayed after its fall. Emergency services workers picked up at least 10 pieces of the trophy.
