David De Gea set to join Manchester United for €20 million on a five year deal



Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea is set to join Manchester United as the replacement for retiring the Dutchman goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, as Sir Alex Ferguson revealed on Wednesday (6/29/2011) for a reported €20 million on a five year deal.

A product of Atletico Madrid's youth system, De Gea spent his first professional seasons with Atletico's B team, in Segunda División B. On 30 September 2009, he replaced injured Roberto during the UEFA Champions League contest at Porto in an eventual 2–0 defeat, not yet aged 19.

The 20 year old goalkeeper is rated as one of the brightest prospects in football and Sir Alex Ferguson believe De Gea will be able to fill the void left by Edwin van der Sar's retirement.

As well as setting himself big targets, the Spain Under-21 international revealed he has high hopes for the team.
