Barcelona get closer to retaining the Spanish League title after victory over Espanyol, 2-0



Barcelona are on the brink of retaining the Spanish Primera Division title after victory over Espanyol.

Just one point from three games ahead, for Barca to win La Liga. After the 35th week Azulgrana successfully won the Catalan derby against Espanyol 2-0. The match held at the Camp Nou on Sunday (05/08/2011), Barca goal through Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique.

Barca collecting 91 points, still differences of eight points with Real Madrid in second place. La Liga remaining three games, just draw it, Barca get into the 21st league title.

Meanwhile, Espanyol are still stuck in 8th position with 48 points.

Andres Iniesta gave Pep Guardiola's men the lead just short of the 30th minute mark and Gerard Pique headed a second three minutes into the second half to give Barca a win over their local rivals and see them move to within reach of another title.

With Real Madrid thrashing Sevilla 6-2 at the Sanchez Pizjuan yesterday, Barca were unable to clinch the title in this match.
