Internacional beat AC Milan to claim 3rd place on Audi Cup 2011



Internacional beat AC Milan on a penalty shootout to finish third place in the Audi Cup 2011, following a 2-2 draw in normal time.

Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic had put Milan leading early in the game, begin a cunning piece of play by Clarence Seedorf, as the Dutchman slipped the ball in reverse fashion to Robinho, allowed the Brazilian forward to drill the ball into the centre.

However, On 24 minutes Leandro Damiao brought Internacional level with his second goal in two days from a counter attack, He timed his run to perfection by meeting a pass from Joao Paulo.

Alexandre Pato finished off an excellent move to give the Rossoneri the lead again. Ibrahimovic's superb control and great vision to thread the ball to Robinho on the edge of the box, and the former Manchester City cut it back to Pato, whose effort made it 2-1 in AC Milan’s favour.

But Andres D’Alessandro found a late equaliser to take the game to penalties. In the shootout, the Italians missed all four penalties and Internacional walked away with a 2-0 advantage and the third standing at the Audi Cup 2011.
