Paraguay 3-3 Venezuela, both through to last eight

Grenddy Adrian Perozo scored a stoppage time equalizer with the help of goalkeeper Renny Vega as Venezuela secured a 3-3 draw with Paraguay in a thrilling 2011 Copa America Group B match on Wednesday at Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena, Salta and both through to quarter finals.

Salomon Rondon put ahead Venezuela just five minutes into game. Paraguay leveled the game in the 33rd minute with the help of Antolin Alcaraz, who grabbed his first goal for his national team over 14 appearances.

Three minutes before the break Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz was replaced by Haedo Valdez who scored his side’s second goal after 62 minutes.

Paraguay got a clear dominance over rivals when Cristian Riveros flicked a neat header past Vega at the near post in the 84th minute.

But that changed when substitute striker Miku poked home to pull one back in the 90th minute, with Venezuela desperately pushing forward and winning a corner as the seconds dwindled away.

Goalkeeper Renny Vega charged forward to contest the corner and succeeded in nodding the ball on for defender Grenddy Perozo to score a dramatic equaliser, in the last piece action of the game.
