Distribution of television broadcasting rights in European Football

Unequal sharing In Spanish Primera Division

Broadcasting rights to be one source of revenue clubs in europe. Some leagues do the division of revenues from broadcasting rights in proportion. However, it is not the case in Spainish Primera Liga.

From season to season, the competition in the Spanish Primera Liga involves only two Spanish giant, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Regulation and the system running in Spain supports the dominance of these two clubs. "If there is a sharing broadcasting rights, there would be no champions in Spain in addition to Barcelona and Real Madrid," said Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido, as reported by the Goal.

Since 1996, broadcasting rights contract negotiations affairs indeed widened their respective clubs. However, in the future, imposition of collective contracts were enforced. Only, the hard part is negotiating the contract value to Barca and Real Madrid.

So far, Barca and Real do get a sharing the largest broadcasting rights. In total, the value of the contract two clubs that are more than the value of the contract other 18 clubs combined. It makes other clubs stifling and requested a change.

The plan major changes in the broadcasting rights contract negotiations in 2014-2015. Barca and Real ask for at least 40 per cent of broadcasting rights, so other clubs can only share the remaining 20 percent.

But after going through negotiations, Barca and Real Madrid are ready to accept sharing 34 per cent of broadcasting rights from 2014. Atletico Madrid and Valencia followed with 11 percent. The rest will be divided to 16 other club.

Based on the proposal of new systems, Barca and Real Madrid remain dominant. they got about 140 million euros. Atletico Madrid and Valencia get the 42 million euros. This condition is very lame.

With such a system, Barca and Real income is very high. They were able to buy and retain world-class stars. As a result, its competitors is difficult to pursue the achievement of two clubs.

"The clubs proposed a plan for change from current conditions to Real and Barca. If they refuse, we could form a new league with 18 clubs. They played it in the league which consists of two clubs," said Del Nido.

In Italy Serie A: Solution after the stadium empty

This season, the clubs in Serie A are no longer negotiate individually. After 11 years of practicing this system, it was decided that the Serie A's use collective contract system, as is the case in the Premier League.

Despite changes to the collective broadcasting rights, problems still exist. Distribution of broadcasting rights is often bear the friction between clubs. Unlike in Britain, in Italy they integrate sharing based broadcasting rights reputation and position of the club.

Broadcasting rights has become the main revenue solutions clubs in Serie A, along with the more quiet the spectators who come to the stadium. Then, new contracts in force this season also provides additional benefits for Italian clubs.

Based on studies conducted Stage Up sports consulting firm, a top Italian club this season in an average gain 400 thousand euros. Most of the television broadcasting rights.

It was not separated from the deal agreed between the Lega Calcio with Sky Italia that are willing to pay 1.149 billion euros. That includes Italy remain in the top three list of competitions with the highest average wealth in the world.

In English Premier League: The position determines income

If in the Primera Liga and Serie A problem with television broadcasting rights, another case with Premier League. Premier League broadcasting rights to use the collective system, designed so that each club contestants get parts in proportion.

There are three provisions relating with profit sharing Premier League broadcasting rights. The first, the club get half or 50 percent of profits from domestic and foreign. These rules to avoid jealousy between clubs.

For last season, income received by each club is 14,616,431 pounds. That is just profit from the domestic. From abroad, the nominal is 10.122, 612 pounds. That is, only from broadcasting rights, each team received 24,739,043 pounds.

Second provision, the club get the parts in accordance with facilities provided to television stations. Usually, big club better off because it has a bigger capacity stadium. In the last season, for example, the match at Old Trafford most often broadcast live as much as 24 times. That makes United's income gain of more than 13 million pounds.

Emirates Stadium (Arsenal), followed with a live broadcast 23 times and 22 times at Anfield (Liverpool), Stamford Bridge (Chelsea), and the City Of Manchester (Manchester City). Clubs such as Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wonderers, Stoke City, and Bolton Wonderers rationed to only a minimum or ten times the live broadcast.

According to the third rule, income from broadcasting rights clubs adjusted with position in the final standings. In other words, clubs that finish in the top position to receive money 20 as much more than the teams in the bottom of the final standings.

Chelsea as champions last year to get 16,008,480 pounds. Compare with income Portsmouth relegated team who only received 800.424 pounds.
