It was 57 years, Lille did not win the French ligue 1. Finally drought was ended by them to complete their fantastic performances this season. Previously they became champion in 1946 and 1954.
They claimed their first Ligue 1 title since 1954 as well as a league and cup double with a 2-2 draw at Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday (5/21/2011).
Lille have 73 points with one match left and enjoy an unassailable six-point lead over second placed Olympique Marseille, who also drew 2-2 at home to strugglers Valenciennes.
This is a sweet end for Lille, who this season was so powerful with their young squad. They became the most productive team with 65 goals and the most solid defense with only 34 goals conceded.
There are young players in midfield Eden Hazard, Aidil Ramy at the back and Moussa Sow on the front lines who have scored 22 goals and chance to be top scorer this season.
More excellent achievement for Lille this season, due on May 14, they become Coupe de France winner, defeating Paris Saint Germain in the final.
