Spain won Euro 2011 U-21 Championship after beat Switzerland

Spain won Euro 2011 U-21 Championship after beat Switzerland 2-0 in the final at NRGi Park Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday (06/25/2011). This is the third Spanish title, after success in 1986 and 1998.

Andre Herrera's header in the 41st minute was followed in the 81st by a sensational 40 yard free kick from Thiago Alcantara, who caught Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer too far out.

It was another succes in the international soccer for Spain, whose senior team are world and European champions.

Spain found the cutting edge to complement their relentlessly positive possession play - namely, five goal adidas Golden Boot award winner, Adrián López.

Belarus grabbed third place after winning 1-0 against a ten man Czech Republic in Aalborg, northern Denmark. Yegor Filipenko's volley of Oleg Veretilo's cross came in the 88th. A last minute attempt by Libor Kozak failed, allowing Belarus to compete at the Olympics for the first time.

Belarus became the fourth European team that certainly got a ticket to the 2012 London Olympics after Spain and Switzerland, and Great Britain.
