Van Persie said England players are too hedonist

Arsenal's Robin van Persie criticised several English colleagues for their hedonistic lifestyle and raised doubts over Arsenal's ability to challenge for the title.

He has taken aim at some of his English team-mates and believes their lifestyle could limit the length of their careers. The Dutch strikers told The Sun he felt a party and drinking culture was more widely embraced by English professionals, and was part of the reason their careers did not last as long as those of their counterparts from the continent.

Van Persie and his wife
"When I know the English players like to go out at night until three in the morning, I conclude that their careers will end at the age of 33 years." He said.

"For me, it's very important to be having breakfast every morning with my two children and that wouldn't be possible if you were hanging about in a discotheque all night."

"I have made another choice and that's to be doing what I love the most, playing football."

Van Persie impressively scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Gunners last season from a total of just 33 appearances - 26 of which were starts.

In Arsenal, Van Persie is one of the most senior player, and has made 95 goals in 230 matches in all competitions since coming in 2004.
