Chile came from a goal down to beat Mexico 2-1

All teams in the 2011 Copa America have now played one game, with four of the six matches ending in draws. Colombia and Chile are the only sides to have won.

Chile fell behind against the run of play, with Mexico's Nestor Araujo looping a header over goalkeeper Claudio Bravo just before halftime.

But Esteban Paredes, who went on as a second-half substitute, chipped in from a corner in the 67th, and Arturo Vidal soared high to meet a header in the 73rd again from a corner.

It was an important victory for new Chile coach Claudio Borghi, who took over when Marcelo Bielsa resigned after leading Chile to its best World Cup performance since 1962. Chile, which reached the second round in last year’s FIFA World Cup, faces 2010 FIFA World cup semifinalist Uruguay on Friday, and Mexico plays Peru.

Mexico have been forced to field a weakened team at the tournament after eight of their players were suspended for disciplinary reasons on their way to Argentina.

Mexico is playing in the South America championship as a guest and with a young team. Stars like Javier Hernandez, who led Mexico to the 2011 Concacaf Gold Cup title last month against the United States, were not selected.
