Nominee for Europe's Best Player award 2011


Xavi HernandezLionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for Europe's Best Player award 2011, the shortlist was announced on Monday, According to uefa.com They will contest the inaugural Award on 25 August.

The final three will now go into a deciding vote in Monaco during the UEFA Champions League group stage draw, after a jury of 53 sports journalists representing each of the UEFA member associations scaled down the list. The 53 journalists will vote live, via an electronic system, for their best player from the shortlist of three, to determine the winner on 25 August.

Barcelona players dominate top ten list. Besides Messi and Xavi, Andres Iniesta are in fourth and Gerard Pique in the ninth.

Positions four to ten are already fixed after each journalist provided a list of their three best ranked players:

Manchester United outclass Chelsea to close in on their 19th league title


Manchester United beating Chelsea 2-1 in a superb game at Old Trafford on Sunday (08/05/2011).

Manchester United getting them closer to the 19th Premier League title, after the Red Devils beat closest rivals Chelsea by a score of 2-1 in the 36th week.

Manchester United must win to keep top position so as not to be taken Chelsea to the dispute only three points. Manchester United scored quickly through Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez in the second of the 37th and Nemanja Vidic in the 23rd minute.

While Chelsea grabbed a goal by Frank Lampard in the middle of the second half.

With this result the 'Red Devils' have 76 points from 36 matches. With two games remaining against Blackburn and Blackpool, they only need one point to ensure the title.

While the Blues stuck in second place with 70 points. Chance winner almost certainly closed because they have to hope Manchester United lose in two games remaining while they have to win the two matches.
