Argentina were eliminated in 2011 Copa America quarter final by Uruguay, through a penalty shootout



Saving goal brilliantly
Uruguay ensure to a 2011 Copa America semi final ticket after getting rid of the host Argentina. Uruguay seal the ticket after winning the match is determined on penalty shootout in the Stadium Brigadier General Estanislao Lopez, Santa Fe.

The match ended 1-1 after regulation time and there was no addition to that scoreline in extra time.

Diego Perez gave Uruguay 1-0 lead in the 6th minute, but Argentina replied with a goal by Gonzalo Higuain in the 17th minute.

Both team ended with 10 men with defensive midfielders Diego Perez and Javier Mascherano picking up red cards, Perez in the first half and Mascherano in the second after each received two yellow cards.

In penalty shootouts, all five of Uruguay's successfully carry out their duties while Argentina's penalties were well taken as well, but Muslera came up big when Carlos Tevez stepped up to the spot third in the order, making a great diving save to his right to give his team the advantage. With Martin Caceres scoring the winning fifth spot kick.

Uruguay advance to the semifinals and will face Peru, who in the quarter final earlier defeated Colombia 2-0.
