Costa Rica beat nine-man Bolivia 2-0 to push host Argentina third place in group A



Costa Rica opened the opportunity to advance to second round of the 2011 Copa America. After in the second match Group A they beat Bolivia, with the score 2-0.

The match took place at the Stadium August 23, Jujuy on Friday (7/8/2011), running hard. Bolivia have ended the match with nine players from the two red cards. Bolivia defender Ronald Rivero sent off on 70 minutes after blocking a goal-bound shot from Heiner Mora with his arm but midfielder Allen Guevara’s penalty was saved by Carlos Arias. While midfielder Walter Fores left Bolivia with nine men on 75 minutes when he was sent off for a foul on Joel Campbell.

Josue Martinez and Joel Campbell scored the goals for the Costa Rican side on 59 minutes and on 79 minutes who climbed to second in the group A with three points, one ahead of tournament favourites Argentina and one behind leaders Colombia.


Next, Argentina will meet Costa Rica in their final Group A match in Cordoba on Tuesday (7/12/2011), Argentina must beat the Costa Rican side to qualify themselves for the second round. And Bolivia must beat Colombia in their final match on Sunday (7/10/2011) in Santa Fe to have any chance of progressing.
