Liverpool secure their first away win over Arsenal for 11 years since 2000 and for the second week in succession at English Premier League, the Gunners had a man sent off and failed to score a goal.

With Samir Nasri in the line-up Arsenal actually have some chances to beat liverpool. Nasri impressed with a surging run from inside his own half that ended with him shooting just wide from 20 yards and Frimpong also forced a fine stop from Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina with a low drive.

Arsenal almost made the breakthrough after 68 minutes when Andrey Arshavin found Van Persie in the area but Reina stuck out a leg to make a vital save.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish reacted by introducing Luis Suarez and Raul Meireles, With the advantage of the number of players the Reds took the lead in the 78th minute, as a comedy of defensive errors allowed them the lead. Miguel’s attempted clearance hit Aaron Ramsey in the face and looped into the net.

A miserable afternoon for the Gunners was compounded in the dying seconds when Suarez applied a simple finish from Meireles's pass to wrap up Liverpool's first win of the season.

Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland at Anfield


Kenny Dalglish's side dominated the first half through Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez who repeatedly break the Sunderland's defense, Though without Steven Gerrard, Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson because of injuries, gave debuts to Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing.

Minute 5, Suarez failed to take advantage from a penalty, perhaps tiredness after winning the Copa America with his country, He returning to training on Monday. Penalty awarded after Suarez was tripped by Kieran Richardson.

But the first goal was not delayed long, Suarez scored with a stooping header at the near post after a free kick from Charlie Adam on the right with his left foot.

In the second half Liverpool lacked penetration, while Sunderland played well and maybe deserved to win.

Sunderland managed to equalize when Sebastian Larsson volleyed in from Ahmed Elmohamady's right wing cross, inside Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina's left upright.

Dalglish sent on Dirk Kuyt and Raul Meireles for Henderson and Luis Suarez but the winning never looked like coming.

Liverpool completed the signing of Brazillian goalkeeper from Roma on free transfer. The 31 year old joins the Reds, who did not disclose financial details of the deal or the length of his contract.

Doni join Livepool as back-up for first choice Pepe Reina who is currently still recovering from a double hernia operation.

Doni has 10 caps for Brazil, who a key role in their Copa America success in 2007 and played 179 times over six seasons for Gialorossi.

Doni is third summer signing following the capture of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland and Charlie Adam from Blackpool in agreeing to join Liverpool since the end of the 2010/2011 season and a fee has also been agreed for Aston Villa's winger Stewart Downing.

Fulham 2 - 5 Liverpool, Maxi Rodriguez scored his second hat-trick in three games


Liverpool moved up one level to the fifth position of the standings after beating Fulham at Craven Cottage. Maxi Rodriguez scored the second hattrick in his last three games, the Reds won by a score of 5-2.

Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle United, Goals by Maxi 10', Kuyt (pen) 59' and Suarez 65'


Liverpool get full points as host Newcastle United at Anfield. The Reds won 3-0. In the match on Sunday (05/01/2011), The Reds dominated the early exchanges and took a 10th-minute lead through Maxi Rodriguez's deflected volley.

English clubs out of UEFA Europa League


Manchester City and Liverpool finally failed to through the last eight UEFA Europa League after losing to aggregate with their opponents, (03/17/2011).

Manchester City in the first leg 16th finals of the Europa League 2-0 defeat of Dynamo Kiev, only able to reply to one goal on 39 minutes by Kolarov.

Liverpool 1 - 0 Sparta Prague (agg 1 - 0)


A late Dirk Kuyt header booked Liverpool's place in the last 16 of the Europa League as the Reds overcame a stubborn Sparta Prague at Anfield.

Joe Cole raced clear and could have put the gloss on the victory as Sparta left spaces at the back in search of a leveller but the playmaker put his shot wide with just Blazek to beat.

Nevertheless, Liverpool prevailed to provide manager Kenny Dalglish with victory in his first European game in charge of the club at Anfield and set up a last 16 encounter against Portuguese outfit SC Braga. Dalglish was without Steven Gerrard for the win over Sparta Prague.

Dalglish, however, will feel his side's progress should have been confirmed much earlier at a sell-out Anfield.

Following an uneventful goalless first leg, both teams showed more ambition this time around and the increased sense of urgency, blended with some sloppy play, made for an entertaining spectacle.
